Unashamably concerned with light, illusion and appearances

Jim Curran studied Fine Art at Ealing School of Art and Manchester College of Art. For many years he was a Senior Lecturer in Foundation Studies at the University of the West of England. Although he is best known for his award-winning films and books, drawing, particularly through teaching, has always been at the core of his creative life.

Now fully committed to painting again, Curran is unashamably concerned with visual appearances, illusion, light and structure. His paintings are a distillation of memory, photography, drawing and observation of the wild and remote landscapes of the world. His obsession with climbing started in 1959 (the year he commenced art school).
